Uma Vida Boa

Scenic Design

Largely inspired by the paintings of Francis Bacon, the design for Uma Vida Boa wants to emphasize the body as the central element in a deeply angular space. Metallic beams emulate a skeleton, a prison cell, by framing the characters in different areas of the stage. Mirrors and transparencies come in place to expose the tension between seeing and being as the protagonist struggles with the social barriers of being a transgender.
